Senior Biomedical Systems Engineer
EXPERIENCE:
1. Total experience: Minimum of 3 years engineering product design or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of medical education or clinical work experience.
2. Design experience: Minimum of 3 years design experience associated with the development of medical systems.
3. Tool experience: Experience in the application of various analysis, design capture and simulation tools related to electronic and/or mechanical design is required.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
1. Electrical stimulation: Strong knowledge of electrical stimulation and electrical activation of excitable tissue.
2. Medicine: Knowledge of common medical practices is required.
3. Instrumentation: Knowledge of state of the art biomedical instrumentation and sensor technology.
4. Implantable medical devices: Knowledge of low power circuit and system design applied to hand-held and portable medical instrumentation is preferred. Knowledge of implantable medical packaging is also preferred.
5. Technical leadership: Able to assume a leadership role in the development of neuro-stimulation engineering research platforms and preclinical animal work. Should be able to work independently.
6. Operating style: Good analytical and experimental methodology. Attention to detail. Good interaction with other team members in the development of specifications and project plans. Effective in producing clearly written technical and non-technical product documentation.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
1. Degrees: MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent; PhD degree preferred.
2. Technical training: Evidence of continuing education in new technology development and applications, as well as advanced product development tools and processes.
