Senior / Principal Scientist in biotech

Description:

Design and execute formulation R&D work; implement and communicate tactics for achieving overall R&D project goals. Formulate transdermal products utilizing patented technology, and develop new, patentable technologies. Manage and prioritize projects within the lab. Support commercial production with technical investigations. Determine feasibility of transdermal delivery of new drug candidates; Investigate our approaches for permeation enhancement and “develop-ability” of transdermal products. Investigate polymers and multi-polymer systems for transdermal drug delivery; Confer with vendors to identify relevant factors for selecting materials supplied for existing and experimental products. Design systematic investigation of in vitro transdermal performance with human skin, and review/approve skin flux data. Collaborate with Analytical R&D to determine stability performance. Work with Process Development to produce GLP and cGMP supplies for animal and human studies, and create batch records. Work with Process Development and Production to scale up products to commercial production. Write technical report(s) with high quality and in a timely manner; Contribute to scientific presentation/publication/patent as a senior formulator. Act as a line function representative in Project Teams as needed; Assume responsibility for direct reports as needed, including supervising, mentoring and developing. Complies with all applicable regulations; Ensures that work is conducted in a safe and compliant manner; Maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies. Keep abreast of relevant literature; Develop visibility outside of functional area; Extend expertise in oral tablets and other dosage forms as required.

Education / Skills Required:

Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics or equivalent. Five to 10 years of industrial experience in research and development of transdermal, transmucosal, oral tablet, or other relevant formulations. Extensive knowledge and skills in transdermal / transmucosal delivery systems, including drug physical pharmaceutics, polymer materials characterization, product formulation and process development. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Experience in staff supervisory and team representation preferred.
