Medical Technologist in biotech

Provides services of both a technical and non-technical nature in the laboratory service areas. Performs routine and complex laboratory tests in an assigned department of the clinical laboratory to provide physicians with rapid and accurate laboratory test results. Duties include: preparation of specimens for processing in the laboratory; performance of waived, moderate, and highly complex analytical process; establishing performing and documenting quality assurance, quality control and equipment maintenance; recognizing problems and identifying causes; developing alternatives and determining solutions; confirming and verifying results through an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments; correlating and interpreting data based on knowledge of factors affecting test results; data handling and input.

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Medical Technologist (ASCP) or equivalent for Medical Technologists. Categorical certification required for Technologist II.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: One to two years clinical laboratory science or equivalent.

Physical and other requirements:

· Regular and reliable attendance.

· Excellent customer service skills.

· Ability to work well with others.

· Ability to work all required overtime and take call as needed.

· Fine motor coordination.

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both written and oral

· Good visual acuity including color perception

· Occasional light lifting.

· Mobility

Special demands:

· Involves judgement in planning work, assessing results, solving problems, and taking or recommending action. Errors or negligence in the performance of duties may lead to serious consequences for patients or disrupt the operation of the group.

· Ability to organize work, to meet deadlines and work under stressful conditions.

· Absolute integrity in the accurate identification of samples, performance, and reporting of results.

· Continual assessment of current literature.
