Research Scientist/Senior Research Scientist in biotech

Examples of Tasks

* Design and execute experiments to evaluate performance of new chemistries, procedures, and formats.

* May lead sub-programs as part of new product development (reagents, procedures/protocols, and technology platforms)

* Significant role in improvement of current sequencing platform

* Authors SOPS and other internal documentation

* Maintains laboratory notebook

* Interacts with members of other groups and scientific disciplines for completion of development tasks

* May supervisor junior members of the team

* Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific literature, competitor products and attendance of scientific seminars and meetings

* Other duties &functions may be assigned to this position as needed.

Skills and Competencies

* Able to work independently and as part of a team

* Strong analytical and technical skills

* Experience in product development a plus Experience with high throughput DNA sequencing technology a plus

* Experience in enzymology, andyticd biochemistry

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Skilled in Molecular Biology techniques including but not limited to: PCR nucleic acid sample preparation, DNA cloning, DNA sequence analysis

* Solid presentation skills

* Experience with statistics, UNIX/LINUX, and Perl Scripts, and bioinformatics a plus.

Requirements:

Requires a Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, or a related

field.5-7 years' experience in an industrial setting; or, Ph.D. in biology, molecular

biology, chemistry, or a related field with 2-3 years' experience in industry.
