Job Description Support new product R&D material development by maintaining a polymer characterization laboratory and associated equipment, preparing samples, acquiring and interpreting polymer chromatography data. Excellent communication skills are essential for this position.

Job Duties: The collaborative nature of this position requires that the individual works as part of a team, communicates openly with others and accepts responsibility for timely execution of experiments intended to provide chemical understanding and results.

Prepare and analyze samples using polymer chromatography (primarily SEC) to support product development projects in contact lens, pharmaceuticals or vision care product areas. Work directly with requestors in these areas to identify the best experiments to meet needs.

Utilize established polymer characterization methods to analyze raw materials for manufacturing and production support.

Document findings in laboratory notebooks and reports, as appropriate, in a timely manner. Qualifications Education: Minimum B.S. degree in Chemistry or related scientific field with academic coursework covering polymer chemistry.

Experience: 3-4 years experience in an analytical laboratory using polymer characterization instrumentation, if B.S. 1-2 years experience in an analytical laboratory using polymer characterization instrumentation, if M.S. 0 years experience in an analytical laboratory using polymer characterization instrumentation, if Ph.D.

Special Skills: Knowledge of SEC instrumentation and concepts is required. Working knowledge of computer software for SEC analysis is required. Strong verbal/written communication skills for interacting with customers to design appropriate experiments and convey results is essential.

Specialized Training: Some familiarity with ISO, Quality Systems Regulations or other regulatory guidelines for medical device development is beneficial.
