Senior Scientist in biotech

Education and/or Special Training PhD degree in Chemistry, Environmental

Science or related plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Environmental or Chemical Engineer in a research and design role. Job Description Use principles of biology and chemistry to develop methods to solve problems related to the infection control and the environment; analyze scientific data, research controversial projects and perform quality control checks; work with our technical team supporting commercial product development, research and development of projects; be involved with cutting edge plasma and chemical disinfection platform technology, involving gas-phase analysis(GC/MS, FTIR, UV-Vis etc.) as well as EPA & OSHA sampling and analytical protocols; meet environmental regulations and to develop methods of reducing the infection and toxicity of hospital equipment and waste; plan and develop research models, using knowledge of mathematical, statistical and physical science concepts and approaches; identify and analyze sources of pollution to determine their effects; prepare graphs, charts, and statistical models from synthesized data, using knowledge of engineering analysis techniques; determine specific processes and development schedules to meet pre-determined goals and objectives; monitor and control progress of projects to ensure sound application of engineering and scientific principles are used and design intent is being followed/achieved; coordinate with other units, vendors and senior managers as needed to ensure specific cost, time and/or regulatory standards are met; evaluate final results of project and provide manufacturing guidance/assistance as needed; and participate in the prototype assembly and/or design of sub- or final assemblies of assigned products.

Qualifications/Work Experience Must have experience in the use of non-equilibrium plasma for environmental and industrial processingand infection control; in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of infection and pollution control using gas plasma technology; in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of advanced chemical analysis instrumentation and techniques (e.g. FTIR, GC/MS, UV-Vis, GC/IC); and experience in design and development of prototype plasma reactors and evaluation apparatus.
