Senior Researcher

Responsibilities: This position is in the Center for Workforce Studies which is responsible for research and data analysis on the supply, demand, distribution and use of physicians. The Senior Researcher will be responsible for developing and implementing new workforce research projects, preparation of manuscripts and reports, and will be expected to make data-based presentations at committee meetings and national conferences. The Senior Researcher will lead and direct team members on individual research projects, as well as leading cross-functional Association research teams, and as such will communicates directly and frequently with staff within and across divisions. The position also involves some interaction with constituents in gathering information and consultation about projects.

Requirements: PhD in health services research, health policy, health economics, other social science, or related discipline preferred. Master's degree required. Four to seven years of experience in health services research, including a proven record of designing and managing complex research projects and a history of publishing original health services research in peer-review journals. Experience in health workforce research, particularly in physician productivity, physician practice patterns, or forecasting physician supply/demand highly desirable but not required. The candidate should have strong analytical skills including advanced knowledge of statistics and statistical software (SPSS and/or SAS), survey design, experience providing oversight for data collection, and experience working with large data sets, including national public use data. Experience with economic modeling and forecasting desirable. Additionally, the candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills (both formal and informal) and should be comfortable leading team-based projects as well as working as an individual contributor.
