Associate Scientist in biotech

Position Summary: Under close direction of supervising scientist, carries out assigned laboratory and related work which includes the recording, analysis and scientific evaluation of experimental data.

Essential Job Functions

· Conducts laboratory experiments under direction of supervising scientist.

· Performs calculations on experimental data.

· Provides limited interpretation of data.

· Recognizes and communicates unexpected results.

· Retrieves defined information from scientific literature.

· Serves as member of project sub-teams.

· Maintains a level of technical knowledge and understanding in the assigned area of responsibility that is consistent with the current scientific literature.

· Complies with established protocols and within regulatory and laboratory requirements.

· Maintains the Research Notebook information on activities undertaken, existing conditions and observed results.

· Understands and complies with accepted laboratory and safety procedures

· Takes initiative to identify and recommend potential improvements.

Requirements Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or related scientific discipline relevant to the area of assignment

Experience Requirements

0-5 years in application of the scientific discipline, preferably to product development

· good observation skills

· ability to work in a methodical and organized fashion

· ability to read and follow protocols

· ability to utilize computer programs to analyze data (may be on-the-job training)

· ability to write in concise manner
