Sr Scientist, Research Informatics
The position will encompass the following responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with the Discovery Research teams in managing information from small molecule data streams such as compound profiling (in vitro screening), pharmacology (PK, and efficacy), and pre-clinical (ADME and toxicity data ).
- Provide support to medicinal chemistry and compound profiling teams to manage compound registration and facilitate assay data analysis using commercial and custom applications.
- Provide hands-on expert assistance and support on the use of appropriate tools to display, analyze and visualize small molecule results data.
- Coordinate data exchange with external collaborators for Small Molecule projects.
- Actively promote adoption and continued use of licensed commercial applications .
- Continuously improve, update, and apply new skills to keep pace with prevailing industry trends and new technologies related to Small Molecule data management.
Qualifications - Familiar with chemical structure storage, manipulation, and presentation.
- Familiar with assay data management and tools to support biological data curation.
- Familiar with Unix/Linux Operating environments.
- Experience using ORACLE database environments
- Proficient with system level script writing in one or more of the following programming languages ( C++, C#, Perl, Python, or JAVA ).
- Ability to support user environment with a mix of Windows, Linux, and Macintosh operating systems.
- Excellent communications and customer service skills.
- Proven problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Proficient in selection, implementation, and configuration of applications in the Small Molecule space.
- A familiarity with the following software applications or technology areas is preferred:
Cambridgesoft ChemOffice Suite
various MDL Software
ChemSW CisPro
Accelrys Accord Enterprise Suite
Symyx Chemistry eNotebooks
Spotfire
Scitegic Pipeline Pilot
Education MS or BS degree with 6 or more years of management experience in Chemistry or Computer Science supporting scientists in the biotech/pharma industry.
