Bioinformatics Scientist
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop new algorithms to select variants for genotyping. Maintain and improve the current variants selection pipelines. Carry out the imputation-based variant selection pipeline to design new genotyping array.
Design genotyping array in collaboration with customers and researchers.
Analyze large datasets, including internal data, customers’ experimental results, and public data to support research, development, and marketing and sales.
Develop and improve genotype algorithms.
Interact with scientists across the organization.
Present results both internally as well at scientific meetings and conferences.
Participate in process and operation improvement opportunities.
Respond to internal and external inquiries.
Comply with company quality management systems, policies and procedures.
Provide mentorship, if applicable.
Additional duties/responsibilities according to business needs.
Position Requirements:
Proficiency in R, a scripting language such as Python or Perl, and SQL. Familiar with C desired.
Familiarity with statistical genetics, GWAS analysis, Imputation.
Familiarity with public biological database/sources (dbSNP, RefSeq, 1000 Genomes Project, ClinVar, HGNC, et.al), and public bioinformatics tools.
Creative analysis of complex datasets
Experience with genotyping array, GWAS data analysis desired.
Excellent communication skills.
Familiar with statistical tests and modeling.
Required
Education: Master’s
Yrs of related experience: 3-5 yrs
