Scientist -Plant Health
Some of the primary responsibilities of this position include:
Managing a team of full-time and part-time employees dedicated to pathology-related projects
Designing and managing field trials focused on characterization of germplasm for disease reactions and discovery of sources of disease resistance
Providing phenotyping support for marker:trait association experiments carried out by discovery scientists for disease related traits
Managing row crops pathology operations responsible for inoculum production, disease diagnostics and disease monitoring activities
Developing strong ties with global pathology teams to advance India pathology strategy in right direction
Qualifications
PhD degree in Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding, Agronomy or related field with at least 3 years experience designing and
Conducting field-oriented pathology experiments.
Excellent knowledge of general plant pathology/epidemiology with preference towards pathogens of row crops
Excellent comprehension of experimental design and implementation of field trials; ability to effectively manipulate, summarize and interpret large data sets based on phenotypic characterization of disease reactions of germplasm
Experience in marker assisted breeding for disease traits will be considered a plus
Clear ability, motivation, and enthusiasm with regard to the need for long work hours and travel during summer months to deliver results from field trials
Results-oriented personality and motivation to manage multiple simultaneous projects while delivering high quality data under strict deadlines
