Scientist - Computational Biology
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree & 5 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree & 7 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
Post-doctoral training in Bioinformatics, Genetics, Molecular Biology/Biochemistry or other relevant scientific field
Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by an excellent publication record
A strong background in biology, especially as it pertains to human disease in the fields of Oncology, Metabolic Disease, Neurological Disease, and Immunology.
Hands-on experience in bioinformatics and genomics, including working with various public and proprietary data repositories (e.g., Entrez, dbSNP, Ensembl, UCSC genome browser, Array Studio), bioinformatics tools (e.g., BLAST, BLAT, samtools/GATK/picard), and statistical environments (e.g., R, S+, Matlab, Spotfire).
Comfortable programming (e.g., Perl/Python, Java, SQL) and working in a Unix/Linux environment, being able to develop customized bioinformatics tools as needed.
Strong verbal and written skills, and an ability to work independently as well as in small teams
