Senior Scientist, Biochemistry
Looking for a senior scientist who is passionate about exploring the potential for leveraging epigenetics to create life-changing therapies for patients with neurodegenerative, inflammatory, hematologic and fibrotic diseases.
• Extensive experience with isolation of biomolecules, including protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid complexes, and protein purification
• Proven experience with mammalian, fungal and bacterial cell growth for production and isolation of proteins and nucleic acids
• Knowledge of affinity purification techniques for isolation of biomolecules
• Experience with isolation of nucleic acids in support of transcriptomic, genomic and epigenomic analyses
• Experience with biochemical assay development to understand protein activity, and protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interaction
• Background in physical biochemistry including catalytic mechanisms, binding kinetics and affinity, molecular docking
• Experience withInterest in methods development, e.g., affinity capture, protein-protein interaction, protein-nucleic acid interaction preferred
• Familiarity with chemical, biochemical and biological data
• Willingness to engage and ability to coordinate multiple collaborative projects within a cross-functional team environment
• Highly self-motivated, with excellent organizational, and oral and written communication skills
• Experience in training, mentoring and managing junior colleagues
• Experience with LIMS a plus
• Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals expected in support of candidacy
• Demonstrates independent scientific thinking, and solves complex technical and scientific problems with significant impact on major drug discovery and development projects
