Senior Director of Systems Biology

Generate strategies as well as specific ideas for cutting edge avenues of research in several neuropsychiatric areas. Champion novel research directions in partnership with the head of Medicinal Chemistry, evident in the submission of carefully constructed and feasible project plans. Rationales will be based upon a sound knowledge of disease processes and integration of innovative strategies for drug discovery. -Work with the Preclinical Safety and DMPK group to advance projects to clinical Nomination stage. -Provide oversight, direct and monitor multiple research programs in accordance with corporate goals/objectives and as a member of the leadership team reporting to the SVP of Discovery. -Collaborate with the Drug Research Division at the parent company, Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma, in Osaka to rapidly integrate new approaches into the CNS drug discovery portfolio. -Partner with the internal Translational Medicine group and the Global Drug Development group to bridge preclinical and early clinical phases of portfolio projects. -Provide scientific guidance and recommend initiation, change or termination of programs to senior management. -Ensure the timely emergence and aggressive development of new therapeutic entities (NTEs), NCEs and NBEs. -Ensure documentation of efficacy data of new drugs through submission of DRRs, and accurate accounting of pre-clinical pharmacology studies in sections of IBs and INDs. -Manage outside collaborations and maintain productive interactions with the scientific community, biotechs and global CRO partnerships. -Review licensing opportunities and make recommendations on pursuit. Work synergistically with other members of project teams in setting and fulfilling objectives in line with corporate and/or collaborative goals.

-Mentor and guide employees to enhance scientific excellence, innovation and project management capabilities. Minimum education requirements PhD Experience required 10+ Years Knowledge & skills (general and technical) -Ph.D. with at least 10 years of relevant pharmaceutical experience. Successful experience in managing, motivating, and engaging senior level scientists in a highly dynamic and evolving organization. -Research experience and in-depth knowledge in neuroscience, relating to neurological and/or psychiatric disorders. -Record of accomplishment managing and leading groups of scientists in target-based and phenotypic approaches to drug discovery. -Record of publications and presentations at national and international meetings.
