Principal Scientist I/II - Chemist for Toxicology

*Applies technical expertise in chemistry, biomathematics, and computational modeling to develop data and strategies across multiple projects and functional boundaries to drive the improvement of the chemistry-related safety attrition in our infection and oncology portfolio.

*Demonstrates independent scientific leadership to provide strategic direction and defined solutions to decrease safety related attrition. Works as a member of a global team and leads local and/or international programs.

*Keeps up-to-date on scientific and technology changes, new discoveries and advances. Utilizes this knowledge by applying it to current and /or exploratory projects, sharing information with others, training, recommending scientific approaches, equipment or technique improvements, etc.

*Demonstrates the ability to motivate, train and mentor others to their full capability. Develop awareness and implementation of structural and computational approaches to limiting safety related attrition.

*Has a positive business impact through section, department, project team and global function interactions. *Demonstrates external impact through recognition in the broader scientific community.

The Principal Scientist position requires a Ph.D in (medicinal, preferred) chemistry with strong computational skills and an interest in decreasing safety related attrition. The incumbent will likely have an additional 5 to 10 years of postdoctoral experience with work in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment.

*Interface with medicinal chemistry and toxicology to improve quality of drug candidates. *Apply drug discovery computational methods for designing and developing new molecules with decreased safety related attrition. *Have thorough familiarity with structural based drug design, molecular dynamics, molecular docking, quantitative structure activity relationships, pharmacodynamics, and chemoinformatics. Knowledge of pharmaceutical safety assessment helpful
