Sr. Research Specialist
The individual will be responsible for leading this effort forward in the laboratory. This includes but is not limited to maintaining a high level of professional expertise in the field; supervising and providing guidance and mentorship to all laboratory personnel; designing and directing or executing experiments; and establishing laboratory procedures and systems that enforce and maintain a high level of organization in the lab. The individual will have demonstrated success in leading and managing laboratories or programs and a distinguished record of scientific and technical accomplishments. S/he will have the ability to gain the confidence of other leaders, scientists, and staff, and the ability to develop strategic relationships and partnerships with key constituents.
* Ph.D. and/or MD degree in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry or related field
* Eight or more years in a research position, including at least three years of supervisory experience
* Experience in kinase signaling, bioinformatics, or experience with high-throughput screening preferred.
* Strong publication record
* Technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaborative ability, and an independent thinker
* Recognized by others outside of institution as a leader in area of expertise
* Proven ability to develop, manage and drive a high performing work group
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent time management and organizational skills
* Demonstrated ability to learn new and innovative processes quickly
* Demonstrated knowledge of computer software for data generation, record keeping, and presentations, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop\Illustrator
* Experience handling chemical and biologically hazardous materials
* Experience managing laboratory supply inventory, reagent preparation, and waste disposal
* Demonstrated ability to build productive cross-functional collaborations both internally and externally
* Ability to analyze short-and long-term program needs
* Ability to schedule, manage and coordinate a large number of different and complex projects and priorities simultaneously
* Knowledge of policy and regulations applicable to the laboratory, including but not limited to safety, animals, and radiation
