Bioanalytical Scientist

Description of duties: The successful candidate will design and develop bioanalytical assays, analyze samples from a variety of matrices, and interpret bioanalytical data in collaboration with and in support of Discovery and early development project teams. The scientist is expected to use-state-of-the-art bioanalytical methodologies and interprets data to support Discovery projects and enable the teams to optimize drug candidates. He/she is expected to continuously and proactively advise project teams and management on the development and optimization of bioanalytical technologies, strategies and models to improve the quality and productivity of the bioanalytical function. In addition, the candidate should be part of the scientific leadership in the Pharmaceutical R&D department. He/she is expected to provide scientific mentorship to junior staff and to take an active role in their career development. Requirements: BS/MS with 4 – 8 years experience (or Ph.D. with 1 – 3 years) in the development of LC/MS/MS-based assays for the quantitation of small molecules from biological matrices. Experience in the operation and troubleshooting of triple quadrupole mass spectrometers, development of chromatographic separation of small molecules from biological matrices, as well as the isolation of small molecules from liquid and tissue matrices is essential. The candidate should also have experience with HPLC/UV/PDA as well as UHPLC for the analysis of small molecules. Understanding of “fit-for-purpose” assay development and support is also a requirement. Ability to work with ELN (electronic notebook), web-based applications and other information technology tools is required. Experience in developing and qualifying internal methods and transferring to CRO’s for late-stage development support is a plus.
